Exactly, especially as it was a trope that everyone died at the end of the series but in a suitably slapstick and funny way and then we get this episode and all that gets blown away. I mean we expect Blackadder to come up trumps at the end but in the end there is no escape. Personally I well up every time he says "Good luck chaps" and means it.
There isn't much Merlin gen fic around at the moment I'm afraid.
And I think I've read all the gen fics out there! I don't mind really, after all when you have a show where the Slash Dragon goes on about "two sides of the same coin" and "the half cannot hate that which makes it whole", what do you expect? Really? Actually I do have a secret love for fics that have a proper OT4 I think there should be more of them out there.
